BR: City of Bones - Cassandra Clare

Just finished work, I;m tired. anyway, yesterday i decided to give Cassandra Clare's CITY OF BONES another try. i started reading it last year and could not finish it because the characters were so..lacking.
Not much has changed. This time, I WAS able to finish it, but it was a torturous read LOL.
The plot was good, Clare is creative and everything made sense.
The writing was good as well, Clare can get quite witty.
The characters can suck my pole. Seriously, EVERY one of them. I'm going to take a minute, and try to think of a character i liked.
nope, there are none.
for one, they are ALL THE SAME. literally, all the characters have like, the same personality, the same voice, the same tone etc. their humour is the same - sarcasm overkill. It's sarcasm all throughout. Dont get me wrong, sarcasm is hilarious, i LOVE sarcasm. What i dont love is how every single character needs to be sarcastic 24/7. Even in intense scenes, where my interest has somewhat peaked, it is ruined by sarcasm. Do you view life with such disdain Clary/Jace/Isabelle/everyone in the book? They seriously cannot formulate proper thoughts or something. The sarcasm is funny though. I laughed at a few, but if you douse every page with that kind of humor, its boring. I reckon they shouldve stuck the sarcasm to Simon. He was funny until everyone abused his modus operandi.
The sarcasm also kills any epic scenes there are, becuase everyone just plays it off as a sarcastic joke.

Clary's a temperamental teenager who is in need of someone with half a brain to guide her. Her tone came off as very immature and emotionally undeveloped. She's 15. Actually yeah maybe thats why. maybe i would have enjoyed this book better at the age of 15. she wouldve made perfect sense. as would everyone else in the book.

this novel/series has a villian - Valentine. Throughout the book, he took on quite an ominous presence. I myself fell for this evil. Until he rocked up. He's a flipping pansy. I dont understand what the shit is going on. when he comes, its just like..chapters and chapters of conversation with Clary going 'you liar! urgh! :(' and him going 'oh heo no you did not just say that'. End story.

i will not be continuing with this series.
